Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a national initiative set-up by the construction industry to improve its image. Sites and companies registered with the Scheme are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.

The Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three main categories: the environment, the workforce and the general public.

CHC is experienced in registering its contracts under this scheme and strives to achieve excellent results. Each contract is assessed against eight categories with a maximum score available of five points for each.

During 2009 CHC achieved an average score of 32 and has now set a target score of 34 for all sites registered in 2010.
