The Project

Design and build of sewers and construction of four pumping stations and control buildings with telemetry links and associated MEICA.

6000m of rising main and gravity sewer were laid in open-cut and trenchless techniques including directional drilling and auger boring using pipes up to 1500mm dia and to a depth of 3m in both carriageway and fields with associated easements and traffic management.

Wet wells within pumping stations up to 8m deep required wellpoint dewatering for their construction.

The contract required the co-ordination and phasing of the work in the pumping stations to ensure continuity of service along with connection to existing control systems.

Work was undertaken within the flood plain of the Duddon Estuary a SSSI area, which also involved protection measures for natterjack toads and badgers.

Significant third party management and liaison was undertaken.
