The Project

Design and Construction of wastewater utility works providing enhanced screening and additional storm storage (19,500m3) located at Lancaster WwTW.

The project scope included construction of two 40m diameter x 8m high above ground reinforced concrete circular tanks incorporating all associated underground 700mm diameter pressure pipework, reinforced concrete collection and distribution chambers, manholes, all MEICA services including pumps, valves, motors, MCC, scada and telemetry.

A reinforced concrete storm overflow chamber (14m x 9m x 6m deep) was also constructed, which incorporated mechanical storm screening equipment and open cut gravity pipework comprising 1350mm dia x 20m, 1200mm dia x 230m, 900mm dia x 120m was laid at an average depth of 3 – 6m.

In addition, permanent site access roads and footpaths were constructed, together with landscaping.

Extensive third party management and liaison was undertaken due to the location and sensitivity of the site and the site being fully operational during the construction works.
