Design and construction of a new Household Waste Recycling Centre and Transfer Loading Station in Bolton, Lancashire, capable of dealing with 85,000t of waste per year.
Site investigation work determined the entire area needed to be stabilised due to historic mining in the area prior to the main construction works commencing.
The project required the construction of a 2500m2 portal frame steel clad building for the transfer loading station and 16 skip bays and a recycling area for household waste. An amenity building, double weighbridge and weighbridge office were also constructed.
New SW, FW and trade effluent sewers were installed including 500m3 of on-site attenuation. Bitmac roads and car parks and 5500m2 of reinforced concrete hardstandings were also constructed.
The contract covered all civils, mechanical and electrical elements.
