New Burrs station platform complete

14 Oct 2016

CHC has completed the construction of a new station platform at Burrs Country Park in Bury on behalf of East Lancashire Railway.

This design and construction project required the construction of a 114m concrete platform, together with associated footpath, access road and fencing works.

CHC worked together with designer Tensar to create a unique structure, which supports the platform.

The new stop was officially opened by the Mayor of Bury, Mike Connolly, on Thursday 13th October with a visit from The Flying Scotsman.

This will become the railway’s seventh calling point and when open to the public next year, the station will enable visitors to the country park to board steam and diesel train services to Heywood, Bury, Summerseat, Ramsbottom, Irwell Vale and Rawtenstall.
