10 Apr 2014

Cheetham Hill Construction has completed the design and construction of a new Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in St Helens, Merseyside.

The £840,000 project for client Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority commenced in October 2013.

The work scope included site clearance and levelling, construction of bitmac and reinforced concrete hardstandings and a reinforced concrete retaining wall to separate the upper and lower levels, refurbishment of an existing office building, installation of new meet and greet and cycle shelters and ablution block, together with construction of a new 20x10m WEEE building and a 64x10m canopy to cover the skip bays.

This new HWRC has the capacity to receive up to 15,000 tonnes of householders' waste and recyclable materials each year.

MRWA and Veolia Environmental Services officially opened the facility to the public on Monday 31st March.
